We are at the end of the BNL 2015 season with the last races to be raced at the home base circuit at Genk (B).
During this season Nick could show his speed but due the incidents where he was involved with, he was never really in the position but bring the maximum result and he dropped back in the championship ranking. Would this race be the one he can improve his position, can he use the summer training he had with his team fellows to show the best of him,….
Thursday and Friday we used to test lot’s of different chassis set-ups and Nick’s engines by the end of Friday Nick was able to show quick laps what was promising for the weekend.
Race day 1
During the free practice of Saturday, Nick showed a 4th place, missing a bit of speed but should be OK to be at the front of the qualifications,….
Only P6, but it was a very close qualifying session , so Nick needs to race for his positions,….
Nick had a good start but even lost some positions and due to contact with Xavier at the curve at the canteen we found Nick back at P12 after the first lap. In lap 3 he was already back on the 8th position and after a great move he was on P4, in lap 13 he could move up to the 3th position,… Nick stated after the race that he had a lot of fun during the overtake actions during the race.
Nick had a good start and moved to the second position, hunting Kai, in Lap 8 Ilian could overtake Nick but because he did before an overtaking under yellow flag he received a time penalty, Nick noted that and took no risk and ensured he stayed close to Ilian because he would receive a 5 seconds penalty and the second place automatically would go to Nick.
Race day 2
This was really a worst result an unexplainable 12th place gave the impression that we would have a hard day,….
Very good start from P12 to P6, in the second lap nick moved to P5 and improved with one more position in lap 7 to P4. The gap to the top was too big to close so Nick had to accept that position for this race.
Nick took 1 place but had to give it back and continued on P4, since the fight of the championship between Xavier and Kai was ongoing, Nick could take advantage in case one of them would make a mistake.
Therefore Nick was following very close but did not wanted to take risks because with P4 his second place of the event would be secured.
Event result as mentioned P2, best of the BNL season, in the championship Nick ended at P4 with the same points as P3 (after withdraw).
Once again thanks to the complete Daems racing team for the support during the season. Jan, Karel thanks for the great support!
Also Special thanks to Danny, Eric, Kenzo for the summer training.
